Agon Literary Review
2010 Theme: The Beauty of Hellenismos
 |
 |
"Agon" means struggle or contest, and in ancient and Classical Greece it was customary to hold contests of skill and strength in many areas of prowess -- from the physical to the intellectual.
The English word "agony" and the literary terms "protagonist" and "antagonist" still pay tribute to this rich heritage.
We at Asteria Books know the value of struggling with words to find the truth that they both hide and reveal, and it is for this reason that we challenged the members of the Hellenic Polythesitic community to write about the "Beauty of Hellenismos" in the spring of 2010. This volume is the result of that most excellent struggle.
